Difference between the secure email products - APP, CMD and ETD ?

Advanced Phishing Protection

Cisco Mailbox Defense

Email Threat Defense

Does APP, CMD and ETD works for M365 (email) only OR it includes Google workspace (mail) ?

ETD is the new name for CMD. Same product, new name.

APP is a resold version of Agari.
It's an add on to CES/ESA.

The additional AI/ML engines will be available in the integrated solution, but will require both solutions either via the CES-Premier bundle or as a la carte solutions.

SEG (ESA or CES) are able to do DLP and encryption and block outbound traffic while ETD is able to see and mitigate all traffic at the mailstore, including internal.

There is also a way to use the ESA to feed data to ETD for reporting today, which allows access to the additional engines, but currently lacks the ability to automatically mitigate without SecureX/XDR integration.

As stated for the first part of your question, APP was an OEM solution that was sunsetted in 2022 and CMD (Cloud Mailbox Defense or Mailbox Defense) was renamed to ETD (Cisco Security Email Threat Defense).

Currently ETD works natively with MS O365 only, but we have an ETD Connector with our Email Security (CES or ESA) solution that will do reporting with any backend email system. Look for expansion of capabilities and native support with G-Suite to follow, including some expected announcements as early as summer of 2023.

Thanks a lot Todd for the clarification.

However, however what are the limitations in CES/ESA when it comparison with ETD ?

ESA/CES is a gateway, it only sees mail when it comes in, not between your users.

And it doesn't have all of the new AI/ML detections available yet.

Thanks Ken for answering my question.

However, how to have the AI/ML detection capabilities with ESA/CES ?
