Hi All,

Requirement : How can mail traffic locally on the exchange server on premise, can be directed to cisco esa

As per the customer requirement we had provided them with ESA Virtual Appliance C100V.

Now the ESA can filtered incoming mail from the internet & outgoing mail from the internal to the internet.

But we had a problem when user send email by local, ex: a@example.com send email to b@example.com the ESA cannot get a traffic from the Exchange, so the message cannot be filter by the ESA.

This is the mail flow / topology for customer follows below:

Scenario to Cisco.jpg

I would also like to know if there is anyone who can understand and help me in this issue

with best Regards

Riyan

There isn't really any way to do this. Exchange knows that the other email account is right there in the db.
You can fire some rules on it, but it doesn't want to let the mail go out when it knows it has the end mailbox.

Hi Ken,

Thank you for your reply

So this is happens because the email accounts are on the same DB, and will not direct to ESA, right?

Is there still an option to solve this problem?

Thanks,

No with Exchange on prem..

Apart from using exchange on premise, is there any special requirements that can work for the purpose we are looking for?

example: using exchange online or hybrid?

So, if you were on Office 365, Cisco's Cloud Mailbox Defense would be applicable.

You journal the mail to Cisco's cloud, they analyze it and if it should have been blocked it pulls it from the mailbox.
