I am very new to Cisco Ironport support.

There is a requirement of ESA Upgrade from C370 to C390. Do we need to procure anything from Cisco for this Upgrade? Or can we directly Upgrade. Is it only ASyncOS or any other things we need to take care. Kindly please helps.

You would need to start by upgrading the AsyncOS on both devices, once both are on the same version you can transfer the configuration over.

Configuration can be exported and imported from the GUI System Administration - > Configuration File.

When exporting the configuration you would need to ensure the password is selected to unmasked/plain.

You can also open a TAC case for license transfer assistance.

That's a hardware upgrade, so a new box. Then transfer the software licensign over.... or just get a vm license and run as many vm's as you need to serice the load.

The device would need to be added to an active contract for support. And in some instances upgrades may not be displayed if the device serial number is not present in the Cisco database.

But Async OS would not need to be purchased. C390 is a hardware and would need to be purchased through Sales.

Thank you Libin.

Do we need to purchase separately anything from Cisco, like C390 / ASyncOS etc...

Thank you for this information Ken and Libin.
