IronPort Email Security Plug-in - unable to re-open saved emails.

Hi All,

I'm hoping for some advice on an issue I am currently investigating.

We are on a Windows 7 environment, running MS Office Standard 2010.  We have the Cisco IronPort Email security plug-in (version 7.1.1.002) installed.

The problem faced is if opening a saved email file (in our case a '.msg' file), the file cannot be opened again unless Outlook is re-launched.  A message appears stating 'cannot open file.  The file may not exist, you may not have permission to open it, or it may be open in another program. Right-click the folder that contains the file and then click on Properties to check your permissions for the folder'.

Outlook is locking the file, however the issue does not occur when the Cisco IronPort add-in is disabled.

I have reviewed the release notes of the version we have installed and subsequent version, however I have not seen this issue listed in the 'known issues' or 'fixed defects' sections.

If you have any knowledge or exposure to this particular issue, please can you advise.

Many Thanks,

Gary

Hi Gary

This does appear to be a defect, however I was unable to locate a customer facing link for the same.

This was possibly listed on the old defects tracking tool which is no longer used.

After a lot of digging, I was able to locate previous instances of this error which confirm that this was a defect on release 7.1.1 and was fixed on 7.2.0-029.

I would recommend updating to the latest plugin version to have all underlying defects corrected.

Thanks
