I have couple of hundred users running 3 ESA VM and 2 physical SMA.
Wondering how the VMs are licensed. Can I have as many ESA and create as many new SMA VM as I like as long as my user counts are licensed? or is license based on seats and number of VM?
I like o setup lab(s) to test things. Does lab and production VM need to be able to talk to each other on the same VLN licensing? or can I install on various lab setup using the same VLN?

Yes , as long as the user count is correct you can install as many as you want. We have 30+.
It is your decision if you want to even share the same license over all ESA and SMA or to create individual licenses sets.

Thanks!
Not sure how the VLNs work. Can I use the same feature key our sales rep provided and create new VLN to associate with lab setup?

We always assign the same features to every new virtual appliance we create.
Be carefull that with virtual appliances you will always replace the licenses file each time you improt a new one with loadlicense.
