Hi,
Is there a limitation on the number of virtual gateways that can run on AsyncOS?
We currently use virtual gateways in a very limited manner. However, we want to exploit the use of virtual gateways and assign one per customer, but before going down that path I'd like to know what the limitations and gotchas are as it needs to be easily expandable.
Any comments?
Thanks

Hello Mark,
yes there is a limit that is both hardware model and AsyncOS release dependent as listed in our knowledge base article 1127 (http://tinyurl.com/689a4n):
-- AsyncOS 5.0.x and down
C10/1x0 4 Virtual Gateways
C30/3x0 16 Virtual Gateways
C3x0D 256 Virtual Gateways
C60/6x0 16 Virtual Gateways
X10x0 16 Virtual Gateways
-- AsyncOS 5.1.x and up
C10/1x0 4 Virtual Gateways
C30/3x0 32 Virtual Gateways
C3x0D 256 Virtual Gateways
C60/6x0 32 Virtual Gateways
X10x0 32 Virtual Gateways
M6x/1x 4 Virtual Gateways
The number of Virtual Gateway is per appliance and can be distributed over any ethernet interfaces.
Thanks and regards,
Martin

Following this discussion. I am wondering how do I check the virtual gateway is working properly? It seems findevent did not show on the mail_logs.

Hello Chris,
the virtual gateway is in fact reflected in the mail_logs as you'll see the IP address of it in the logging.
Thanks and regards,
Martin
