Is it possible via the ISE ERS API to change or reassign the user name associated to registered devices in a My Devices Portal?
I support an organization that has two reasons for this ask:
- Migrating blocks of user names from NetBIOS names to UPNs to support Office365.
- Has to change user names to support life changing events (marriage, divorce, etc...).
Thus far, my API tests have been unsuccessful with ISE 2.3p2:
- Endpoint Update for the “portalUser” variable.
- Receive HTTP 200 response, with correct “newValue.”
- “portalUser” isn’t updated on the endpoint in the ISE admin GUI.
- Updated “portalUser” appears when I get endpoint via API.
- The device remains in the original user’s My Device Portal.
- Endpoint Register for the “portalUser” variable.
- Receive HTTP 204 response
- “portalUser” isn’t updated on the endpoint in the ISE admin GUI.
- Updated “portalUser” appears when I get endpoint via API.
- The device doesn’t appear in either the old or new user’s My Devices Portal.
