If we have a timed Out job, what happens to the direct dependent jobs?  Do they go into a Timed Out status?

Hi Bill McNally,

It depends on how your jobs are setup.

If your job that times out belongs within a group, and your successor/direct dependent jobs are inheriting the same time window from the parent, then your successor/direct dependent jobs will time out as well. Unless, inheriting the same time window as the parent is NOT selected.

If your successor jobs are independent, without a group or perhaps belonging to a different parent, then double check the successor jobs at the job level and see how they are setup:

  • If time window is inherited from the parent (then check the parent level)
  • If there is a time window specified

In either above cases, this will most likely lead to your successor jobs to time out. Note, if you select the do not time out option, and dependencies have not been met for the day, then your jobs will end up in a skipped status for the day.
