Hi,
I have a non Cisco SFP plugged on to a Cisco Switch. I have forced the port to be up.
The port is now up but shows not connected though a Fiber optic cable is connected to it.
Can anyone please help me fix this?
Thanks in Advance.

what device mode? and what IOS code running?
media type is unsupported <-- SFP not detected ? ( what SFP you have ?)
Remove the SFP and re-lug and check the Logs when you insert the SFP (it will tell you the reasons?)
you can try the below command if the device support that commands :
(config)# no errdisable detect cause gbic-invalid
(config)# service unsupported-transceiver

Hey,
Thanks for the suggestion,I have already forced the port to stay up and not in the errdisable state.
But for some reason it still shows not connected.
The sh idoprom command gives the following output
Please note that the SFP is detected here.Any thoughts on how to fix this?

You need to post the output requested ?
When you mentioned SFP detected. - can you post show interface gig 1/13 and show interface gig1/13 trans
.Any thoughts on how to fix this? - >> one we see the output we can guide you on what is wrong.
what device is connected other end? is this connected back to back? what mode of fiber using single or Multimode?
Try to twist the patch lead TX and RX and see if that helps, try also no auto negotiation.

Hi,
Here are the details, the int details with the Cisco SFP.
We are using a SM Fiber, the other side is connected to a camera. The camera has an LED on which indicates that the signal is being transmitted.
I did try to interchange the Tx and Rx ports as well. That didnt help.

its 100MB LX - what is Camera side speed ? Also your reliability 252/255 (this is looks cable or SFP issue ) - you need to replace any one of them and test it.
can you get the Camera near the switch and connect small patch lead and test ?

Hey Balaji,
Thanks for the response.
I tried connecting the same camera and FO cable to the same port on the switch using a spare Cisco 100MB SFP and the connection was up.
Any other leads?

That good news - so the spare SFP looks good then.
Any other leads? <----if this is working as mentioned above ? why do you need more ideas, this proves something wrong with SFP right ? (or you looking to investigate why SFP not working ?)
