Hi Folks,
I'm currently doing a pre-production EVPN testing for my customer. Please refer to the following diagram:
Let's just focus on the PEs router in the middle, where I'm using Cisco NCS540 (IOS-XR 7.11) to test EVPN features. What I want to achieve are:
- Enable L2VPN backbone to transport subscriber VLAN behind OLT towards CN devices, either using EVPN or VPLS (preferred EVPN).
- Provide link redundancy at OLT device using EVPN Multihoming (Port-Active or All-Active). The EVPN ESI configuration has been done and tested well.
- Enable Multicast for IPTV services and transport it over EVPN/VPLS SR-MPLS.
- Perform traffic steering for L2VPN services at PE devices.
Based on those requirements, can someone help me to get clarity regarding point 1, 3, and 4:
- Do I still need enable MPLS-LDP on all core interface to be able run VPLS-PW? I tried to enable full SR-Prefer but the PW is still DOWN. I've read most of the Cisco documentation guides are using traditional MPLS (targeted-LDP).
- Does EVPN (bridge-mode) support multicast IGMP? Do I need enable mVPN in the core backbone that are running SR-MPLS? If yes, any Cisco document guide that I can refer? I have refer to the Cisco guide[1], but during the test I checked show igmp snooping groups on the PE1/PE2 device that are connected to OLT doesn't show anything (no matching igmp groups) despite the client behind OLT is streaming (join) successfully to Mcast group. It's bit weird and made me doubt as I wasn't able to verify in the PEs whether my multicast traffic is sent/received.
- For L2 traffic path steering, how can I enable it if I use EVPN over SR-MPLS as my transport protocol? It seems like most Cisco documentation are talking about VPWS/VPLS over SR-TE[2,3]. However, I couldn't find deployment guide for EVPN traffic steering with SR-TE under EVI or Bridge-Domain. Can someone pointing me to the specific document/deployment guide?
