Can i configure a 802.1x authentication to prompt the user for a userrname and password to enable a Switch port???
The username and password for and Access Control Server??

I agree, it depends upon your euipment. The switch has to support 802.1x

windows xp will prompt you to input username and password.
switch should enable 802.1x authentication.
