Can I restore an ISE 1.2 backup file into ISE 2.2 directly?

Also, is there a document I could have used to find the answer to this question?

Restore of backups is only supported for releases that are also supported for direct upgrade.  Otherwise, need to make it a 2-step upgrade (or backup/restore) process.
