cannot find device in context directory

Hello,

I am testing connecting a printer for a customer PoC.

I connect the device and I see it coming online as part of a default rule as per below

Overview

Event5200 Authentication succeeded
Username00:26:AB:6D:DF:0B
Endpoint Id00:26:AB:6D:DF:0B
Endpoint ProfileUnknown
Authorization ResultPermitAccess

If then I go to the context directory to look the device up, as I need to create a profile for it, I cannot find the IP address.

I am not sure where to go to see the probes and data that I am receiving.

Is this a bug?

Thanks a lot

Please re-run Visibility Setup Wizard and add the missing the IP subnets of the endpoints in the screen for "Endpoint Discovery". That screen needs to have ALL the endpoint IP subnets.

Thanks Hsing,

For the quick reply.

Does it mean that I have to run the wizard for sure? It would not be the case.

I have other devices in the same subnet that are working fine.

The other weird thing, is that I cheated and created a profie for Epson just looking at the OUI, and it worked.

But even if I match the profile, the policy works only if I use the identity group, and not if I use the attribute.

VSW has the effect in white-listing the endpoints to be discovered by the context visibility. If you have not run it before or it has all the subnets already, then we need to look at it further.

Hi Hsing,

I do not recall if I run the wizard on the server or not, but this is an active client authenticating to the network and seen in the live profile and on the live logs.

Just that I do not find the MAC address in the context visibility.

I need it to go and look at the probes to build a profile for it. Is this now the right place to do it?

Thanks

Francesca

Yes, you are correct. The endpoint details are accessed at the listing either

at Context Visibility --> Endpoints --> Endpoint Classification

or at Work Centers --> Profiler --> Endpoint Classification.
