character mode session plz help

i have started AAA but i m getting confused in character mode and packet mode sessions !! plz refer me a document which clarifies this concept plz help

character mode is used to connect simple devices (like character-mode terminals) that do not support the full functionality of a particular protocol to a network. Packet mode is juat the opposite
