ISE Database listener not ready yet. Seconds left before timeout: 0

error:[cpminitialsetup.sh]

ERROR: FAILED TO START DB!

Database is not available within timeout of 240 seconds.

This could be the result of incorrect network interface configuration,

or lack of resources on the appliance or VM.  Please fix the issue and

run the following CLI to re-prime database:

'application reset-config ise'

error:[cpminitialsetup.sh]

Any advice?

Hi,

Is DNS and configured for forward and reverse records for the hostname you configured before this step?

Also is NTP available to this server?

Thanks,

Tarik Admani

yes it is

for ntp it is local as is synced with vmware

however ntp server has not been elected even tough udp 123 port is open

please note that on the same network a physical 3395 appliance has been setup normally

Are you using RHEL 5 32 bit as the guest operating system in the vmware settings?

Thanks,

Tarik Admani

yes  red hat enterprise 5 32 bit

what are you using for ntp clock source? If it is internal can you allow icmp since I noticed this in my current deployment. Once I permitted it, it seemed to sync and work fine.

that was caused by the virtual machine configured with two disks -.-
someone will get killed soon...

however thank you

Hi Tarik,

I am getting the same error message:

Starting ISE database processes...

##########################################################################

ERROR: FAILED TO START DB!

Database is not available within timeout of 240 seconds.

This could be the result of incorrect network interface configuration,

or lack of resources on the appliance or VM. Please fix the issue and

run the following CLI to re-prime database:

'application reset-config ise'

##########################################################################

This happend when i did command 'application reset-config ise' on a 3395 appliance running 1.1.1.268 code

i appreciate your assistance

Please make sure that the ISE has access to ntp and dns (both forward and reverse records).

Thanks,

please make shure the virtual machine respects all the standards defined in the documentation,

pay much attention to the disk size, cluster dimensions and :

1) check the virtual machine is created with only ONE virtual disk

2) check the disk is not splitted on two or more physical disks (the virtual disk must reside on a single physical disk)

in my case the problem was that the virtual machine was created with two 200gb disks and the result was the error mentioned above...

Giuliano,

I am using a 3395 appliance in this case and not a VM.

I will sort and dns and ntp and report back

many thanks

Hi Lanny

I am running into the same issue on an ISE appliance, 3355. Did you find a solution?

thanks

Is it a fresh installation?

If it is then you have to ensure that the ntp, dns and domain information is current and active before you proceed with installation otherwise it would most lightly give database error.

steps i took.:

Ensured the ntp, dns ip address, dns domain name was provisioned

re-run the installation

In my case it would take forever for database to initialize and when it does, i still cant connect via web browser but could connect via CLI.

Good luck

Hi Lanny

It is a fresh install, i am setting it up in the lab to upgrade/patch before bringing it onsite. I provisioned dns, ntp, ip and domain ...I have a 3750 and the default gateway and a router with the ntp address on it and configured as ntp master

dont forget to add the fqdn of the ise terminal to your dns server forward and reverse

let me know what happens
