Cisco ISE VM Interfaces

Hi Community Members,

I am using ISE version 3.3 (VM) and currently vm has 7 interfaces out of which only one is in use. My question here is can I shut the other six ?

@M Talha it should be fine to shutdown the unused interfaces.

You can either shut them, or delete them from the VM entirely. When I build an ISE node from OVA, I always delete all the interfaces, and only add one new VMXNET3 adapter. Cisco ISE OVA by default doesn't ship with paravirtualized adapter (like VMXNET3) and that is the main reason why I delete all of the Cisco provided adapters.

Yes you can, but ensure to follow these steps for proper removal, or ISE will stop from working, as the active NIC interface Id. in use is internal to ISE, so you cannot remove the ones you think it is not using.

WORKAROUND:
- Power down the ISE node.
- Remove all network adapters from the VM configuration.
- Add only the desired network adapter (e.g., VM NIC #1).
- Power up the ISE node.
