In order to leverage this, you need to be using a feature called posture. I would say it is more common on remote access VPNs, but it is often used to do just that.
On the internal network, there are many ways to go about preventing third party systems access to your network, but posture on third party/byod devices is less common due to the software requirements on the endpoint. Typically we prevent the third party endpoint from accessing the internal network in other ways.
