Hi there,
Do I need the L-ISE-VM-K9 license to install Cisco ISE on an ESXi ?
Actually, Cisco ISE can be downloaded with an Eval License for 90 days.
I know, ISE license (e.g. Base License) is needed.
Thanks a lot.
Greetings,
Norbert

Although the demo VM you're using is free, you're obliged to pay for L-ISE-VM-K9 when you move to a production model because it uses a licensed Oracle database underneath it. You have to pay this for every instance of ISE that you run. You will then need to buy the Wireless licenses as necessary for your number of devices.

If you want your deployment to last longer than 90 days... yes you need that part, along with the necessary licenses.
Also remember that if you're an existing ACS or NAC customer, you can use L-ISE-VM-M-K9 instead which will save you some money (plus other discounts available on Base and Adv Lics too)

When you receive your new ISE appliance, evaluation (90-day) license is ALREADY installed. It allows you to perform initial setup of the system and carry on all necessary checks. This license is not created for live network usage, so you must change it to a regular license as soon as possible. This built-in license includes 1 base and 1 advanced license with 100 endpoints on each.
To check how much time do you have remaining on your evaluation license, go to:
Administration > System > Licensing > Current Licenses
Types of licenses you might want to install are:
Base;
Advanced;
Wireless.
It is also possible to have combined license, which is Base + Advanced.

Thanks a lot.
I have installed the Cisco ISE on my lab ESXi and there is the EVAL license.
My question is, do I need to order L-ISE-VM-K9= and the wireless license (only for NAC on wifi) or only the wireless license to get a working ISE?
To me it seems that I don't need (technically) the L-ISE-VM-K9=, only the wireless one....
Greets,
Norbert
