Hello,
I am not familiar with FQDN, I am learning ISE.
Could you please explain what is FQDN & what is it's purpose in ISE.
In ISE FQDN is used while generating CSR, what does it do exactly?
Regards,
Pranav

Hi Pranav,
It depends for what purpose are you generating the certificate. If you are using it for the management purpose, then you need to ensure that you provide the hostname/FQDN of the ISE.
FQDN is fully qualified domain name which can used in the network to reach the device instead of IP address.
Please have a look at "Generating self signed certificate and generating CSR" sections. That should clear things.

(FQDN) is the complete domain name for a specific computer, or host, on the Internet. The FQDN consists of two parts: the hostname and the domain name. For example, an FQDN for a hypothetical mail server might be mymail.somecollege.edu. The hostname is mymail, and the host is located within the domain somecollege.edu. FQDN used in the ISE CSR is identifying the entity associated with the certificate.so in this caseits usually ISE hostname
