Hi,
While installing ISE 3395 i am getting error failed to start DB!
Database is not available withintimeout of 240 seconds.this could be reason of incorrect network configuration or lack of resources on the appliance or VM, please fix the issue and run the folloing CLI to re-prime database
'application reset-config ise'
Thanks,
Sachin

When I stage the ISE appliances for my projects I have a virtual machine with a dns zone for a customer that i am working with, from there I can get the database started, certificates installed. along with steps 3, 6, and 7. Instead of using AD to build the policies I use internal groups and replace them with AD groups when devices are installed at the customer site.
Thanks,

Sachin,
I have seen this issue when dns isnt configured. Please check dns for the ISE hostname (both A and PTR records).
Thanks

Yes, they are not talking to DNS Server as they are installed in LAB, LAB network does not communicate with Production.
If I configure everything in Lab i.e. Hostname, IP address, Domain Name, Name server, NTP server and then put them in to production whether it will work? Or tell me the best way to configure them!
Below are the steps which I am thinking to perform
Sr No | Task | Location |
1 | IP Address Assignment to all 5 Boxes | Lab |
2 | Shipment of all Appliances to the respective site | Site |
3 | ISE Appliances Licensing | Site |
4 | Active Directory Integration | Site |
5 | Certificates(CA & CSR) | Site |
6 | End Points and Authenticator configuration on ISE Appliances | Site |
7 | Authentication and authorization Policies | Site |
8 | Testing | Site |
9 | Deployment | Site |

Hi all,
i'm getting the same error on my ISE 3415-K9 Appliance in the Lab-environment.
what is actually the recommendation or the origin of the error.
is ist cause by the lack of FQDN resolution?
if yes! then this would mean that installing the appliance onsite, i wont get the error since the DNS-Resolution will be given.
thanks in advance for your post.

i fixed the problem in my case by:
setting up my C3750 as NTP and NDS Server
the C3750 could Sync the Time with the ISE sind the ISE was showing this:
Cisco Identity Services Engine
---------------------------------------------
Version : 1.2.0.899
Build Date : Wed Jul 24 09:37:31 2013
Install Date : Mon Mar 1 05:40:56 1993
after doing that, i could successfully retart the DB by setting up following command:
“application reset-config ise”.
