ISE advanced eval license alerts after full base install.

GW21

Level 1

Has anyone had an issue with the advanced eval license triggering the below alerts after a full base license has been installed and the advanced eval license has expired?

How can I keep the license expiration warnings and avoid receiving warnings for an expired eval licence?

This is on Cisco ISE Software Version 1.2.0 full running on a ISE-3315-K9. There is no requirement to go to a full advanced license.

License Expiration

Details :

Advanced License expires in 30 days

Gary,

The way to supress this message is to disable the License Expiration Alarm.

To do this, go to Administration > System > Settings.  Choose Alarm Settings from the Left Menu.

Scroll down and select Licensing     |       License Expiration  from the list of Alarms.

Click the Edit Button and use the dropdown to change the Status to Disable.  Click Submit and you're done.

I would then set a Calendar reminder through Outlook (or on your phone) to enable this feature once the expiration date for your Advance License has passed.

Thanks Charles but as per my original post the expiration date of the advanced license has already passed but we are still receiving alerts, we assumed these would stop once the eval license expired. Do you have any further thoughts on how we might stop these alerts for the advanced eval license without disabling expiration alerts for the full base license?

Sorry, I missed that.

Go to Administration > System > Licensing and choose the Administration Node.  Click Edit

Under Advanced Package, choose the license and then click the Remove button

That should stop the Alarms.

Thanks again Charles but as far as I am aware ISE does not allow you to remove eval licenses and the option to remove is greyed out.

Then I defer to my first response to disable the Alarm.  I have tried and found no other way.

Thanks Charles, I'll see if anybody else has an alternative to turning off the alrams and may raise a tac case if all else fails.

Hi,

I had the same issue, receiving alarms about the expired advanced license every three hours and not using any advanced features.

Though bugID CSCun04863 is not mentioned in the release notes Resolved Issues Cumulative Patch 8 the issue is gone after installing patch 8.

Bug CSCun04863 will be fixed in ISE 1.2 Patch 9.

May be the licensing issue in Patch 8 is suppressing the licensing alarm.

Hi Charles

Just for info Cisco identified this issue as new bug that will be fixed in version 1.3, thanks for your response.

Gary,

Thanks for the update!  I appreciate you sharing your findings.

Did you get a BugID for this issue?

Here is the bug ID
