ISE SMS with Twilio- E.164 number formatting

We are integrating Twilio as SMS gateway service for ISE guest notifications.  Twilio recommends using E.164 number formatting which requires +1 for US.  We would prefer that our guests only enter the 10 digit US number.  Is there a way to prepend the US country code (1) in the ISE configuration or through a script so that the guest only has to enter a 10 digit number?

I don’t have an instant reference available but this has been discussed before and it’s been part of other SMS providers configuration in our guest community page - Have you looked into the different documents in JavaScript available on that page? Http://cs.co/ise-guest

Yes, and that is excellent information. I have not specifically found a
script or configuration for this particular issue. I am wondering if the
script for the drop down country code selections would help, as in does it
automatically apply the country code, and the guest then only enters in 10
digits.

yes please try it out, I believe it will solve your issue. Also ISE 2.7 has this built into the product as well but might work a different way, let us know

You might want to try manually entering the +1 in the configuration line if they are only expecting US based phone numbers

Where would that be entered?

Under the ISE configuration in the http api call you would modify what is sent to twilio by adding in the required characters

Jason,

Are you referring to adding that to the SMS gateway configuration in ISE?
Where specifically are you referring to?

Right under step 2 in the http api line add in the digits before the phone number variable . I don't have a setup to test with

Ok, but isn't that the From number that is included in the API URL sent to
Twilio? This would be the To number that the guest enters included in the
message?

You’re right I didn’t see that. You can try to put your own script to insert on the registration form then. We don’t have a specific example however. I'll try to see if i can come in with one before Christmas

is there a reason you can’t use the international phone number that defaults to U.S. in case they don’t have a US phone?

That is an option. We are still discussing internally. Ultimately, we
want to deploy what will provide the best overall user experience.

OK also look at how ISE 2.7 does it built-in for the future and evaluate :) Look for new guest features at http://cs.co/ise-guest

Can you please let me know if you just need a script to insert a one?

I would like to test this if you have one that would work with the portal builder.
