ISE VM upgrade to 2.4

Hi experts

my customers are running 2.2 on 8CPU 32G MEM VMs. now they want to upgrade to 2.4. The biggest challenge to them is to upgrade their memory allocation to 64G. They have a big cluster with 20+ nodes.

They have been seeing that 2.2 is not using a lot of RAM, and they are asking if they can just do the upgrade without bumping up the MEM to 64G

Chances are it will run, but it is out of spec and it is not a certified build. As you have probably already seen, 2.4 drops the option of SNS 3415/3495 templates. The supported templates are 3515 16GB or 3595 64GB (256GB for mnt only).

It sounds like a large deployment so I wouldn't take the chance. To be fair I don't think anyone here will suggest running out of spec for any size deployment. Another thing to keep in mind, 2.4 VM licenses relies on the memory and cpu allocated to determine small/medium/large. You won't match a medium license with 8vcpu and 32GB ram and receive nag warnings for the node licensing.
