ISE2.3 compatibility with IE4000/IE5000

Hi experts,

I checked the Cisco Identity Services Engine Network Component Compatibility, Release 2.3 - Cisco but could not find clear information for IE4000 and IE5000.

There are validated version/minimum versions in Table 1 Supported Cisco Access Switches as;

IE4000
IE5000

IOS 15.2(2)E5
IOS 15.2(4)E2

IOS 15.0.2A-EX5

But as for IE4000/5000,  it seems that 15.2(2)EA to 15.2(6)E are available (not listed in the matrix above).Cisco Industrial Ethernet 4000 Series Switches - Release Notes - Cisco

So could you confirm which is the minimum version for these switches? And is EA release is supported on ISE?

Thanks in advance.

According to the table you referenced, the headers are the important part:

IE4000.PNG

What this means is that the IE4000 and IE5000 Access switches are 100% compatible with ISE when using a minimum version of IOS 15.0.2A-EX5.  This is the version in which these features were written into the code.  Anything above that will retain the compatibility.

IOS Versions 15.2(2)E5 and 15.2(4)E2 are the versions that were used to test the devices.  Again, all versions above these should retain all compatibility, unless specifically called out in the release notes.

Here is the legend for the 1, 2, and 3 footnotes you see in the table:

Thank you so much for your kind reply, Charles.

I fully agree with you regarding the meaning of each version in the matrix.

What my customer pointed is that IE4000/IE5000 have never supported these two versions (IOS 15.0.2A-EX5 and IOS 15.2(4)E2). So they confused about the real minimum or a tested version with ISE.

But anyway, as you told, I think they are compatible with RADIUS and other functions with ISE. I will explain it to my customer again.
