Migration from ISE 1.2 to ISE 2.x

Hi,

please, can you help with the follwoing questions related to upgrade from 1.2 to 2.x:

1) The customer is using 4xUCS Servers with Geo Redundancy, 2xUCS  per site

2) The license in use is Base License for 6,000 end points

3) According the ISE Tool to support the 6,000 end-points is necessary 2xSNS3515.

4) The customer wants also to use ISE for Wireless users, in this case 3,000 Users through Wireless, in this case

I think the end-points will grow from 6,000 to 9,000, what about the licenses is it enough the Base License or Do I need to include Mobile Licenses? Is it also necessary to include Plus and Apex and put on top the Mobile Licenses?

Thanks,

Joao Cardana

First off, you cannot have base licenses if you want to have mobility licenses. you can either have base/plus/apex licenses separately or you can bundle them up as mobility licenses with some additional features and then use it.

If you are looking for a full blown feature roll out sometime in the coming future, would suggest you to get 9000 base, plus and apex licenses. if they just want to use simple authentication/authorization and not any features listed under plus and apex licenses, just get 9000 base licenses.

Please note that this is not a recommendation but an example chosen to explain how licenses can be utilized.

Hi ,i assume that you will grow with 3000 more endpoints you will need purchase more license for that .Every radius session count 1 license if endpoint disconnect the license is free if you dont have 9000 active endpoint at same time you dont need to buy .

Hi,

based in the current ISE instalation the customer has 6000 wired end points, that in this case it can be addressed with Base License, right?

Right now, customer wants to add 3000 wireless end points, which kind of license do they need to purcahse?

1) Buy more 3000 Base License

2) Maintain the same 6000 Base License and Buy ISE Mobility Upgrade licenses for the 3000 End Points.

3) Is it necessary to add PLus and APEX licenses in order to use ISE Mobility Upgrade licenses?

Thanks,

Joao Cardana

Please read the ISE Licensing Guide @ http://cs.co/ise-licensing for full licensing explanations.

Base licenses are good for either wired or wireless authentications however not for BYOD (Plus License) or Posture/MDM (Apex).

You will need to buy Plus licenses for all concurrent endpoints doing device registration or BYOD.

You will need to buy Apex licenses for all concurrent endpoints doing Posture/MDM.
