Monitoring ACS v5.5

We are monitoring our ACS v5.5 appliances and was wondering if anyone could tell us what the "LOAD" service does?  What is it monitoring what does it mean when it goes critical?

This suggest the Linux system is busy and if not checked may lead to serious issues, like DB corruption or the servers inability to manage the configuration.
