PIX Native GRE Tunnel Support

Can the PIX firewall be used to tunnel IP traffic like a router?

I am interested in a standard PIX firewall configuration capable of native GRE tunneling encapsulation without encrypting the payload.

If so, what is the expected performance; that is how many packets per second can I pass through a PIX-515E, PIX-525, and a PIX-535.

Hi

AFIAK theres no support for GRE in pix at present though i havent tried this u can try terminating u r GRE in ur router if u hve one and u r ipsec tunnel between ur pix.

GRE between u r routers and inside that ipsec tunnels created beween ur pix firewalls..
