Questions about ISE License Migration (ISE Base -> ISE Essential)

Hello community,

I have a question about the ISE license migration, specifically the ISE Essential license, which currently only runs until October 31, 2023.

How will the migration to the new licensing model be after this date? Will there be another free migration with a fixed date or will it be necessary to purchase ISE Essential licenses? I still have a few customers who are currently working with ISE 2.7 and older, and the upgrade to ISE 3.x is being delayed here.

What is Cisco's plan?

Thank you in advance for your answers

Best regards,

Stephan

For ISE 2.7 and older base license is perpetual (never expires), so can continue to run them however 2.7 is end of life as of March 2022 and goes end of support on Sep 22nd 2024. Ideally you want to upgrade before End of software maintenance runs out which is Sep 22nd 2023.

If you upgrade, there will not be another free migration after October 31, 2023, you will have to purchase Unless you work out some deal with your Cisco account manager for new licenses.

-hope this helps-

Thanks for the information.
Good to know that after October 31, 2023, the required number of ISE Essentials must be reordered.
Unfortunately, due to the new ISE 3.x licensing model, there are still enough customers who are sticking with ISE 2.7.

Unfortunately, at some point every migration period comes to an end.
