Recommendation for Dedicated Storage

Hi team,

In the installation guide for ISE the following line is found:

"It is highly recommended that VM resources be dedicated and not shared or oversubscribed across multiple VMs. Deploying Cisco ISE virtual appliances using the OVF templates will ensure that adequate resources are assigned to each VM. "

Can I just get confirmation that the reason for this is related to IO rates as well as possible over subscription and ISE running out of storage space if a shared storage is used?

Is there any impact when moving from shared storage to dedicated storage in the future?  Is there documentation on this to show risks?

Guidance is not specific to IO rates, but applies to CPU, Mem as well as ensuring sufficient disk space is reserved.  You certainly do not want to run out of disk.  Per ISE docs, the IO requirement is based on 300MB/sec read and 50MB/sec write.  It is not expected that EVERY node have this rate of IO available every second, but that general IO of system can deliver that performance when under load.
