I think you are right, it would be in Connection > SSH > Auth and in the Authentication parameters section you browse for the key.

         - Make sure to use the latest version of PuTTY , (if not yet done) ; now you may also have the serial console open in Azure when this is tried , perhaps an informative message is or gets displayed ,

I think ISE 3.2 in Azure would only allow you SSH into it via the SSH key pair, so you might need to import the key into putty before you can SSH to that box. I can't remember exactly where that should be imported, but I think it is in Connection > Data tab.

i had a feeling that i need to import the ssh key pair
its not under connection > Data

it might be under connection -> SSH -> Host Keys ?
there seems to be a couple of spots for this..

i cant find any guide to explain how to configure this

yup i figured it out eventually...

i missed the step where i had to create a .ppk key for putty... as soon as i did that i was able to log in without any issues into ISE.

thanks for all your help.

@TedB123 : Aref is correct. And Internet has a few guides on it, e.g., Log in to a Linux server with an SSH private key on a Windows client (rackspace)
