Upgrading Cisco ISE to version 2.2

Good day,

We currently have Cisco ISE version 1.3.

We would like to know the correct process to perform the upgrade.

From Cisco documentation, we see that we will have to upgrade either to at least version 1.4 or 2.0 before upgrading to version 2.2.

Currently, we are thinking to do the following Version 1.3 >> 1.4 >> 2.2

When i go to the Cisco website, for the upgrade file to upgrade from version 1.4 to 2.2, it says the following:

Upgrade bundle for upgrading ISE version 1.4.0, 1.4.1 to 2.2. This is an unsigned bundle unlike 2.0 and later.

What does the "Unsigned bundle" message mean?

Unsigned simply means that Cisco has not digitally signed the image.

You can (and should) confirm your download authenticity and integrity by checking the MD5 checksum against what you have.

Oh ok i understand, will verify the authenticity and integrity when installing the image.

Thanks much

Another question:

Concerning the licensing change. We currently have ISE wireless licenses.

Since the license model has changed, will we need to contact Cisco Licensing for anything or will the licenses upgrade automatically when we upgrade?

The version upgrade won't affect your license coverage.

Since the wireless licenses are all term-based (including the base license), when those eventually expire you will have to purchase the Mobility Upgrade licenses to continue using ISE. The new licenses that a Mobility Upgrade purchase yields will replace the existing ones.

Hey Marvin,

Thanks for the reply. Was doing some extra research and saw that the mobility upgrade license would have been if i had the wireless upgrade license for wired and wireless clients.

But currently we are only using it for wireless clients. Based on that and on the information in the following link, we can simply upgrade to the base/plus/apex licenses as required.
