Hello Cisco Community!
This is my first time posting here so hopefully I put this in the correct location.
I have an ASA 5525X that I am getting ready to update the ASA and ASDM on.
For reference I am on 9.1(2) and 7.3(1)101.
I was curious to know if anyone has done this utilizing the wizard that is in the ASDM and if so do you still have to manually backup and restore your running config or does this "wizard" do it for you? Obviously, I am going to take a good backup first as always, but I was just wondering if the wizard backs up and restores your running config for you during the update process.
Thank you all in advance!

It doesn't backup and restore. There's a different wizard for that.
The backup wizard will ask you for a file location to save the zipped backup file.
When you reload the ASA as part of an upgrade (either via ASDM or cli), you will be prompted to save your configuration. That's the standard "copy running-config startup-config" however and not a backup per se.

That's what I was thinking, but I wanted to get some outside input to confirm. I already have my running backed up. I may just update the old fashion way, but I was intrigued with the ASDM wizard...specifically it's process and whether it's worth using or not.
Thank you for your input!
