Hello everybody. My name is Edward and I am a newly hired systems administrator. I finished my Bachelor's Degree over the summer and recently found my first IT job. Recently the Director of IT gave me this simulator to practice configuring Cisco routers. They are a great reference but I have a question.
As I get deeper into the tutorials it is asking me to name multiple routers. I am getting confused on how to do this. To name a router I have to do this from the command terminal. I have an attached image showing what I need to do.
My question is:
How do I decipher, name/switch between routers? As you can see in the 2nd image I attached when I go to configure terminal and input "hostname Router2" it just changes the router name of the 1st one? In this lab it states we have 3 routers. Any advice from somebody who has done this before? I am getting rather confused.
I have no problem configuring the router and saving the settings but this is probably a simple answer. What is the command to clearly switch from Router1 to Router 2?

Hi,
Sorry i'm not answering your question but want to tell you Boson is dead tool now.
It's too old now, & no body uses this one.
If you're starting your career in networking, below are the standard tool & you'll need them as long as you stay in the networking world.
Use below tools for simulation/practicing the on routers/switches:
1. Cisco Packet Tracer

2. GNS3 1.0

Ashok thank you for the information. I followed the link to Cisco Packet Tracer and I was having difficulty finding an install. People were saying you need to be a student of Cisco to get access to this software. Is there an alternative you can lead me to in order to get this?

I'm sorry he didn't answer your question. Boson software is fine for studying the ccna. There are also YouTube videos supporting the content. One in particular is made by westechit. https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL2OvadZ4p8VprRScLG4hRWiXHva6_Q1No

Hi,
in order to switch between routers click on the netmap tab at the top left and click on the router you want to choose from the topology diagraham . Boson also has how to videos supporting the software on YouTube. Gns3 is not as helpful no matter what the first dude replied.
