Can CiscoWorks 2000 backup running config of a router?

Dear Expert,

A router 3825 (ip: 10.7.241.1) is connected to a DMZ switch 3750G(ip: 10.7.241.10)

In RME, I created a new running config file and saved in "Private Config"

If using CiscoWorks 2000 (LMS2.5),how can i backup the existing running configuration file of that router before deploy (overwite mode) the new one? Thanks!

Tommy

See the RME User Guide, specifically the section on "Archiving Configuraitons". It states, in part:

"The configuration archive can be updated with configuration changes in two ways:

•Periodic configuration archival (with and without configuration polling). You can enable this using Resource Manager Essentials > Admin > Config Mgmt > Archive Mgmt > Collection Settings.

•Manual configuration archival using Resource Manager Essentials > Config Mgmt > Archive Mgmt > Sync Archive.

You can modify how and when the configuration archive retrieves configurations by selecting one or all of the following:

Periodic Polling

The configuration archive performs a SNMP query on the device. If there are no configuration changes detected in the devices, no configuration is fetched.

Periodic Collection

The configuration is fetched without checking for any changes in the configuration.

By default, the Periodic Collection and Polling are disabled."

Once you've enabled an archive collection method, you can confirm your device's running-config has been archived by looking at the archive management job details, or searching the archive (Resource Manager Essentials > Config Mgmt > Archive Mgmt > Search Archive) or going into Device Center (or shadow directory if you have enabled that feature - see "Enabling and Disabling the Shadow Directory" in the User Guide") and looking at the parsed (or raw in the case of shadow directory) script there.

Hope this helps. Please rate helpful posts.
