I have a router configured with SNMP version 2c. I can obtain SNMP info from it with the LAN and also run SNMP walk without any trouble. However, I cannot get this to work from a remote site.I get the following error when trying to do an SNMP Walk from remote site (see attached).

It's really hard to help you if you don't even post your SNMP config. Could you post it?

Sure - it's really simple:
snmp-server community COMMUNITYNAME RO
snmp-server host X.X.X.X (remote IP) version 2c COMMUNITYNAME rf
Again - it works from within the LAN.
thanks.

Hi
At first hand it seems a connectivity issue between remote NMS and router.
Have you verified connectivity between remote NMS and router?
Is ping works between them?
If yes then is there snmp ports opened between them..not blocked by some FW etc between them.
Thanks

Yes, the NMS can ping the router. Port 161 is open in firewall. Have also tried with firewall disabled.
Thanks.

Are you using and VRf's? Otherwise it must be something blocking the traffic in the path. Check access lists on the router itself, and anything in between the two points.

Thanks Phillip,
no VRFs in use. Port 161 is open in firewall. I've also tried disabling the firewall. There are now access-lists blocking SNMP.
thanks.
