Cisco network discovery/inventory tool?

Hello,

I have a client that is a full Cisco shop and needs pretty much a network assessment done at their location.

I need a tool something like NMAP/SpiceWorks that gathers Cisco model, OS version, IP, etc; something that could possibly work off SNMP. Basically a tool that scans there whole network of known and possibly unknown devices.

I heard Cisco has their own tools that help do this quickly in the case customers need to do product/license renewals or list EoL devices.

Can anyone advise a good tool for this?

Thanks in advance!

Charles

Partners can register and do this via the Cisco Funded Network Assessment program.

The most commonly used tool is Netformx. You can also use Cisco Prime LMS among others.

Marvin,

Thanks for your quick reply. Can you guide me to the Cisco Funded Network Assessment program? What is the specific name for this or where do I go to attain this?

I will look into Netfomx as well.

Best regards,

Charles

Hello,

You may find useful Pretty Good Terminal http://www.prettygoodterminal.com which has recently been published. This software is more about device management (via ssh/telnet) in large scales and through several jump server hops, than a terminal application. It was developed by me when I was given a task to configure more than 50000 CPE routers. So this software is a response to a real challenge and it is a good fit to collect device information.

Regards,

Laszlo

Check Nectus  at http://www.nectus5.com for Network  Discovery

You can use it for 60 days, should be enough time to finish any discovery project
