HI!!!!
I have a Windows 2008 Enterprise Server with LMS 4.0.1 and I'm trying to upgrade it to the new Cisco Prime LMS 4.1.
According to the installation guide, I have to install the LMS 4.1 from scratch and then just do a Data Migration.
However, when I execture the Cisco Prime LMS 4.1 Windows Setup, after a few seconds a window pop up and shows an error:
>SetupNew\setup.cpp (143)
PAPP;
PVENDOR;
PGUID;
$
@Windows Vista Service Pack 0 (7600)
IE Version: 9.0.8112.16421
And it doesnt let me install the new LMS
Has anyone encountered with this error before?? how can I fix it??
I would appriciate your help!!
Thank you very much
Sincerely,
Dante Verastegui

There are a few copies in there where things could have become corrupted. It may still be helpful to try a new download, but you should also go through that doc to make sure your server is ready for an LMS installation.
With LMS 4.0.1, the inline upgrade is possible. You should be able to install over top of 4.0.1 provided you have your purchased 4.1 license. The 4.0 license is not compatible with 4.1.

You will need to reinitialize your dfmEpm database. That will remove all faults, but also any fault customizations you may have done. The instructions cna be found at https://supportforums.cisco.com/docs/DOC-8796 .

This typically occurs if the installer has not been downloaded properly. Redownload the installer, then go through the steps documented at https://supportforums.cisco.com/docs/DOC-9132 to ensure the best possible Windows installation experience.
Also note, IE 9 is not yet supported. You should downgrade to IE 8 as your server configuration has not been tested with LMS 4.1.

Joseph!
The weird thing is that, I copied the downloaded setup.exe archive into a DVD and then copied it into my LMS server and try installing it, thats when i got the error message.
When I execute the original file in my own laptop, it does run and boot up but then it shows me that it is not compatible with my OS. It doenst show the error that appears on my LMS Server. So I thought about being a copying error. But then, I tried executing the copied file (from the DVD) on my laptop as well and again it did work till i got the no compatibility window. So that kind of tells me that the file isnt broken, right?
I tried installing it running IE 8, didnt work. Then i performed an upgrade to IE 9. Ill downgrade it just in case.
One question, is not necesary to unisntall the LMS 4.0.1 beforehand right?? I read on the installation guide for LMS 4.1 that there were 2 types of migration, remote and inline. Remote consisted on having another Server and install the 4.1 there, then do a backup from 4.0.1 and deploying it into 4.1. However, I want to install the LMS 4.1 in the same server i currently have my old LMS version. Can that be possible? Thats the inline migration correct?
I'll download it again and hopefully see if it works.
Thanks for your help!!
Sincerely,

Joseph,
I read it and my Server is ready for the installation. And it has the requirements for the 4.1 installation recommended in the installation guide.
Ill download the file and try again.
I do have a 4.1 licence to provide during the installation.
Thank you for your help!! Ill keep you posted on the process!

I meant to check to make sure you have DEP and anti-virus disabled. These systems can interfere with the installer, and should be disabled during installation.

Joseph,
I copied the file i downloaded again into a new DVD and then proceed the installation in my Server and it worked!
Finally I was able to install the LMS 4.1 on top of my previous LMS 4.0.1. with a Backup so all my previous configs remained.
However, I have a question, in my Dashboard Fault Monitor Summary, it shows me I have 40 faults. Although, when I access it, theres no faults showing. What can make this happen? How can I get rid of the Number of Faults showing on the dashboard?
I will be looking forward to your repply
