Hi All

I have recently installed some new devices on my network.

Cisco 3120s and MDS 9124s and MDS 9134s.

While i have copied over the existing snmp config from other

devices on my network i cannot get cisco works to  see these

devices.

I have repeatedly gone into common services

device credentials/device discovery /discovery settings

but cannot see what i am doing wrong !!!

passwords are correct etc.....

Any clues what i should look for to help me detect why this

isnt working.

Thanks

Steve

Copying over the full SNMP configuration is not a good idea.  With SNMPv3, the engineID must be unique across all devices.  Go back and confirm each device has a unique ID.  For Discovery, have a look at https://supportforums.cisco.com/docs/DOC-9005#Scheduling_a_Discovery_Job .  While you may be changing the Discovery settings for ad hoc discoveries, any scheduled discoveries will be using the old settings.  It may be a good idea to remove any scheduled discoveries, then recreate them to ensure the proper settings are being used.  Sniffer traces are a good way to debug this kind of problem with SNMP reachability.  Filtering on udp/161 to one failing device, then running a new discovery can show if the device is being contacted and what error it returns.
