Hi,

We have LMS 3.1 running HUM 1.1.0 in Vmware 3.5. We have a issue i.e. service HUM DB engine show starting in services.msc

Following is the error while loading HUM module

"Unable to get Database Connection. Either UPMDbEngine process is down or Connection Pool is exhausted."

1) We have removed UPM.logand restarted the service. Still same problem

2) Resetted UPM db password by running c:\NMSroot\bin\perl.exe dbpasswd.pl dsn-UPM. Error occured. Screenshot attached.

Please help us to get it resolved.

thanks in advance

Hi,

Many times, permissions play a part when applications fail to start. You may want to verify that the local machine account 'casuser' is not being adversly effected by a GPO or similar condition.  Another common issue is anti-virus suites blocking internal communicaton ports used by LMS.  An easy way to rule this out is to completely disable anti-virus and reload the server. If all is working afterwards, you have your culprit. The Windows Event Logs are also a good place to look for any errors.

A more extreme option:

If you do not wish to retain past data you can restore the database by

1) Stop the Ciscoworks daemons

2) perl dbRestoreOrig.pl dsn=upm dmprefix=UPM

3) Start the Ciscoworks daemons

Note: The perl executable is found ../CSCOpx/bin/ as well as the dbRestoreOrig.pl script.

Thanks

Nick
