Console port issues with 2924XL switch

I have a 2924 that is running 11.2(8.12) and am having problems when connecting to the console port. The switch will lock up and reboot if I connect to the console port from my Dell laptop. As I understand it, there may be issues surrounding this, so if anyone can provide me with any information, I'd appreciate it. I would update to 12.x but this switch only has 4 megs of ram.

Unfortunately it is a known issue but the workaround is not included until 12.0(5)XW.
