differnce in Global mode password and line vty password

Hi,

Please tell me the difference between global password authentication and line vty authentication.

If I have created username, password and enable secret password at  global mode , why we need another password entry after line vty ?

what's the diffrence between two ?

can I login into switch without vty password ?

Hello Rakuntal,

I would not set the line vty password and just limit myself to the global auth. The difference being, the line vty password specifically relates to setting a password for remote access to a device through its VTY lines. Global authentication, on the other hand, encompasses a broader set of authentication mechanisms and policies that control access to the device as a whole.
