Executing the copy running-config startup-config command creates a copy of the file hosted in RAM in the file hosted in NVRAM.

oh ok so by default when i do write or copy run start it stores it to nvram ? does it store it to both ?

I'm going to throw the answer back at you: What command is used to save the config (original command and not the "shortcut")?
