Do you absolutely have to use SSH or Telnet credentials in Prime Infrastructure?

I'm trying to use PI 2.0 for config backups, syslog, and other basic tasks but can't seem to fully manage devices without entering SSH or telnet credentials. Does anyone know if SNMP can be used instead? I can't get it to work.

For successfully managing a device using Cisco Prime Infrastructure, it is crucial that all the essential protocols be defined in the device credential for a given device. The following matrix shows what protocols are needed for various wired and wireless device types.
