I just have installed LMS 4.0.1 and have the following query.
What is "Data Collection" in LMS and how does it differs from "Inventory Collection" ?
What datas are collected from the devices being managed by LMS and what is the mode of collection? (SNMP, SSH, Telnet ..)
Thanks.

Hi RajMohan,
Device creadentials are like Community string , Telnet and SSH credentilas
Device attributes like type of device ,model etc..
2.Yes it is SNMP polling
CDP MIB is used by Data collection to gathere the information for topology
I hope this will clear your doubt.
If above post helped you ,kindly mark it resolved

Hi ,
Data Collection (which is a part of Campus Manager ):
1. Gets the list of devices and their credentials from DCR.
2. Polls these devices.
3. Fetches information that is required for topology computation, reporting network discrepancies, and for various reports and device configurations.
Chekc this link:
Inventory collection :
collects the Invenory information of the device like Flash ,RAM ...etc
For inventory collection ONLY SNMP protocol is used
I hope this will help
Thanks

Thank you Afroz. Some basic doubts to clear my understanding:
1. Gets the list of devices and their credentials from DCR.
What is the basic difference between Device credentials and Device Attributes?
Is this an SNMP polling?
Can you please explain which MIB/OIDs this data collection use to gather information for topology computation?
