network monitoring software to store the logs for network switches

We are installing 4507 as one core and two distribution switches. Customer is asking for network monitoring software to store the logs for these network switches. What should be our solution for network monitoring software? Is there any software that we can install on 4507 core and use to to monitor all other connected switches?

Network switches can store their own logs in a local buffer and, optionally, send them to a remote syslog server for viewing, analysis and longer term storage.

They cannot receive syslogs from other switches or devices.

One good entry level tool that does the job is SolarWinds Kiwi Syslog server. They have a free and paid version that you can choose from according to the features you want.

I'm used Splunk for indexing syslog and other textual information. You can install the splunk lite version (limited of 500MB / day), It's free and if you need more features, can do the upgrade.
