Is there a transceiver only report available in Ciscoworks? I was trying to do this in the Custom Reports in LMS 3.2, RME but I didn't see a way how other than to generate a detailed device report.
If there isn't, are there plans to implement one in LMS 4.0?

No, this cannot be done yet. There is an enhancement open to get port serial numbers (e.g. for SFPs, GBICs, etc.). That bug ID is CSCsz48654. There is also another bug open to pull all RME DDR attributes into custom reports (CSCsj78780). RME 4.0 will have some of this, but serial numbers right now are not available.

Exactly what details are you looking for? If you're referring to certain GBIC details, this is not currently available, but a bug is open.

Hi Joseph,
We have installed an evaluation version of LMS 4.0 and I was particularly looking for this feature - obtaining SFP serial numbers via a report.
Can you please confirm if this is included or not in LMS 4.0 ? I have looked for it in all harware reports and detailed device reports but no luck so far.
Thanks,
Adrian

No, this is not in LMS 4.0. I'm talking with the product team to try and get this added to the next release.

Hi Joseph,
Thanks for the reply.
Do you know of any other way to obtain the S/N of swiches and all of their components (including SFPs ), that we could use ?
Thanks,
Adrian

Hi,
Can you please be more specific? This is about quite a few devices,200-300 that we need to poll for serial numbers and get the information in an easy to read and process format. Do you know any SNMP tool that can do that?
Thanks,
Adrian

You can write a script , that could query each device, based on the type of the chassis you can query for specific mib to get , S/N of the equipment and also other modules inserted ( spf , gbic etc. )

A script to walk the entPhysicalTable looking at the entPhysicalSerialNum object would be the way to do this for such devices. I do not know of any existing scripts that do this down to the port level.

The only way I know is to run a Netconfig job. Then run show inventory (enable). It's not to clean but it works.
