What is the equivalent of "copy run start" in IOS-XR?

The answer to that question is "none".  Cisco has been saying they're are going to do away with the old command "write" in favour of the LONGER and, sometimes confusing" "copy running-config startup-config" for years.  The decision makers started implementing this with the advent of the Linux-based systems like the IOS-XE & IOS-XR.

This decision is non-negotiable.  This means one can huff-and-puff-until-blue and the decision will not be reversed.

A lot of end-users have found the decision "annoying" and have implemented a workaround by creating an alias.

Thanks Leo,

So my question now is, what command do I use on IOS-XR to save running config to nvram or whatever equivalent so the router reboots and loads the saved config once it is back?

Thanks in advance

To save the config?  Use the Cisco recommended command of "copy run start".  Alternatively, one can create a "write" alias.

But the "copy run start" command is not available on IOS-XR, that was the main reason of my question

Please post the complete output to the command "copy ?".

Nevermind I just got confused while working. Thanks everyone

I think the answer you want is the "commit" command. In IOS-XR the configuration is saved across the route processors once you issue the commit command. See the commit help when you are in configuration mode.

Indeed, you can still use the copy command and "running-config" is one of the sources but its destination is not for saving as a startup. It's just to back it up.

RP/0/RP0:IOS_XR9(config)#commit ?
best-effort Commit the configuration changes via best-effort operation
comment Assign a comment to this commit
confirmed Rollback this commit unless there is a confirming commit
  force Override the memory checks
label Assign a label to this commit
replace Replace the contents of running configuration
save-running Save running configuration to a file
  show-error Displays commit failures immediately
<cr> Commit the configuration changes via pseudo-atomic operation

and here are the copy commands

RP/0/RP0:IOS_XR9#copy running-config ?
  WORD Copy to file
config: Copy to config: file system
disk0: Copy to disk0: file system
disk1: Copy to disk1: file system
ftp: Copy to ftp: file system
harddisk: Copy to harddisk: file system
http: Copy to http: file system
https: Copy to https: file system
rootfs: Copy to rootfs: file system
tftp: Copy to tftp: file system

...yes, I know this is an old post, but it might help others in the future.
