if your devices are configured with SNMP.

you can poll the below OID  , using a script to run against all your devices::

Object     entPhysicalSerialNum
OID     1.3.6.1.2.1.47.1.1.1.1.11

or if you have a NMS software in your place then there must me some report like hardware report which would server the same purpose

Yes but with NMS software the SNMP must be configured already to all devices.
