4255 Configuration question

If I deploy the IPS 4255 in Inline-mode, do I need to assign IP addresses to those inline interfaces??

If not, then I guess it will act like a bridge, in which case, will i need to connect it back to back with the neighboring device with a cross-over cable?

I was not able to obtain any info relating to this on the documentation.
