5500X Series IPS Licence

Is the IPS licence an annual subscription or do you buy the licence once and add the IPS to a smartnet contract for signature updates?

I was always under the impression that the licence was valid for 12 months from date of purchase and a new licence (or renewal) had to be done upon expiry.

There is a 2k+ price difference between the FW standard and IPS edition, so after the first year would it be another 2k+ for a repeat licence?

Thanks

Ross

The 2k+ is for the purchase of the IPS-Module. Thats the same as if you buy a standalone sensor. You have the system that can do the IPS-function. Sometimes this system is hardware or in your case pure software. Then you need a license to always get the newest signatures. For that you need the "Services for IPS" which is an annual subscription. For that service you can save some money as you typically only pay for two years if you buy the three years subscription.
